Editorial Breakdown & Verdict
Baseus has positioned the Spacemate RD1 as a compact all‑in‑one solution for laptop users who want a clean desk and fast charging. The 140W USB‑C power delivery means it can charge a high‑end laptop while simultaneously providing a 5‑inch smart display for quick notifications or a second screen. Compared to the $169.22 MSRP, the current $109.99 price tag represents a 35% discount, which is significant for a feature‑rich dock. The savings are especially attractive for students or professionals who need a portable workstation and can afford to sacrifice the HDMI input in favor of a slimmer design.
However, the lack of an HDMI port means users cannot connect a separate external monitor directly to the dock. Those who rely on dual‑monitor setups or need to connect older displays will find this a limitation. Additionally, the 5‑inch smart display is modest in size, which may not satisfy users looking for a larger secondary screen. Overall, the deal offers solid value for those whose workflow fits the dock’s feature set, but it’s not a universal solution for every laptop configuration.
